Terms of Use
In effect October 1, 2026 · version 2026-10
This English version is provided for convenience. If it differs from the French version, the French version prevails.
Welcome to Meet First. These terms are the contract between you and 9577-4618 Québec inc., which operates Meet First ("Meet First", "we"). By creating an account, you accept them, along with the Privacy Policy, the Cookie Policy and the Community Rules, which are part of them. The Safety Tips help you meet people with confidence.
1. Who can use Meet First
- You are 18 or older.
- You are a person, not a business, and you have only one account.
- You have never been convicted of a violent or sexual offence, and no law or decision forbids you from using a dating service.
- You use your real first name, recent photos of yourself and a mobile number in your name. Your selfie is verified before you can meet anyone.
2. How Meet First works
Meet First is for meeting in person, with no chat:
- You say when you are free (an "availability") and the activities you like.
- You choose an activity: you then commit to inviting one of the people suggested within 15 minutes.
- An invitation becomes a date only if the other person accepts it. The time and a public place are chosen by the app.
- On the day, you confirm your arrival with your phone's GPS (the "check-in").
- After the meeting, each person secretly chooses a label (Delete, Friendship or Crush) and rates the other. The labels are revealed at the same time.
- Reliable members can also organise events for singles, open to all members.
3. Your commitments
- Follow the Community Rules and the law, online and in person.
- Show up to the dates and events you accepted, or let people know in time.
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Keep your mobile number and your phone under your control: you are responsible for what is done with your account.
- Do not use Meet First for business, to ask for money or to recruit.
4. Reliability, labels and ratings
- Reliability. A score from 0 to 100 (80 to start) measures your attendance and punctuality: arriving early +5, on time +2, late without notice −5, cancelling less than 3 hours before −5, not showing up or not keeping an activity commitment −20. Letting the other person know you will be late, before the start time, costs nothing. The score is visible to the people you are suggested to.
- Labels. You have 48 hours to choose yours; without a choice, it is "Delete". The lower of the two labels applies. A Crush is only revealed if it is mutual.
- Ratings. They are anonymous and required with the label. Nobody sees individual ratings. They are used to rank suggestions and, when low ratings repeat, for a review by our team.
- These calculations are automatic. You can ask us how they were made and ask for a person to review a decision about you (section 15).
5. Events for singles
- The organiser is responsible for the description, the (public) place and the announced cost. Meet First collects nothing: any cost is paid on site, at the venue.
- An event is confirmed or cancelled 24 hours before, depending on the number of people signed up and the balance between genders.
- The community and reliability rules apply to events as they do to dates.
6. Partner perks
Some venues offer a discount to members who meet there. The perk is offered by the venue, on the conditions shown, once per person, per venue and per match. The venue remains responsible for its products and service.
Points and medals
- Outings you attend (dates, events), events you organise, friends you refer and businesses you bring in as partners earn points, according to the scale shown in the app (« My points »), with its weekly, monthly or yearly limits.
- Points lead to the bronze (500), silver (1,500) and gold (5,000) medals and their perks. They have no cash value, cannot be bought or exchanged, and never change who is suggested to you. They are personal, cannot be transferred and are deleted with your account.
- Points obtained by fraud (fake attendance, fake account, referring yourself) are removed, and the account may be suspended. We may change the scale or the perks, with a notice in the app; points already earned are kept.
7. Plus and Premium plans
- Meet First is free. The Plus and Premium plans add the options described in the app ("My plan" screen): 5 suggestions per availability and availabilities up to 14 days ahead (Plus), and also "My ratings", their trend and one change of activity during the commitment (Premium).
- Plans are monthly or annual and are paid through the App Store or Google Play, at the price shown before buying, applicable taxes extra.
- Automatic renewal: the plan renews for the same period, at the same price, until you cancel it. You are notified before any price change, and you can cancel then.
- Cancelling is done in your App Store or Google Play account settings (link in "My plan"), at least 24 hours before renewal. The plan stays active until the end of the paid period. Deleting the app or your Meet First account does not cancel the subscription.
- Refunds follow Apple's or Google's rules, without limiting the rights the law gives you, including Québec's Consumer Protection Act.
- If we remove a paid option during your period, we refund the unused part or offer you an equivalent option.
8. Your content
You remain the owner of your photos and texts. You allow us to host them, adapt them for display and show them to other members as part of the service, as long as your account exists. You guarantee that you have the right to post this content and that it follows the rules. We may remove content that does not.
9. The app and how you may use it
We give you a personal, non-exclusive and revocable right to use the app. You may not copy the service, extract data from it (bots, scraping), get around it, overload it or use someone else's account. The Meet First brand, logo and app design belong to us.
10. Safety: what we do, and what we do not do
We verify selfies, choose public places, measure reliability and act on reports. We do not run criminal background checks and cannot guarantee how members behave. Read the Safety Tips. In an emergency, call 911.
11. Suspending and closing an account
- You can delete your account at any time: Profile → Settings → Delete my account. Remember to cancel your subscription in the store.
- We may warn, limit, suspend or close an account that does not follow these terms or the rules, including for conduct during a meeting. Except in an emergency or for safety reasons, we tell you and give the reason, and you can contest the decision by writing to us within 6 months.
12. Liability
We do everything reasonable for Meet First to work well and safely, but we cannot promise an uninterrupted service or a successful meeting. Each member is responsible for their own conduct. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for our own fault or the rights the law guarantees you as a consumer.
13. Changes to these terms
We notify you at least 30 days before a change takes effect, in the app and by text message, with the new text and the date. If you refuse the change, you can close your account at no cost and with no penalty before that date.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Québec and the applicable federal laws. Any dispute may be brought before the courts of Québec, including the Small Claims Division. No clause forces you into arbitration or takes away your right to take part in a class action. You may also contact the Office de la protection du consommateur.
